Newsletter September 2017

Volume 1 / Issue 1

Welcome

to the inaugural monthly newsletter of Barefoot Ministries. The aim of this newsletter is to keep our supporters & partners up to date with what we are doing and to make available the many relevant resources and information that we have access to.

The name, Barefoot Ministries” reflects our desire to strip it all back to the truth of the Bible and who Jesus really is. In a world that’s going crazy it can become harder and harder to know what to believe and who to believe. Do we even know what truth is anymore? Well Jesus says that HE is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE (John 14:6) and His Word never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.Welcome,to the inaugural monthly newsletter of Barefoot Ministries. The aim of this newsletter is to keep our supporters & partners up to date with what we are doing and to make available the many relevant resources and information that we have access to.

It’s not about religion. It’s all about JESUS – the ANCHOR for our soul.

Friends from Fiji

Recently we were blessed by a visit from our Pastor friends, Peni & Adi Sugataraga, from Adelade. Peni & Adi lived in Pinnaroo for a few years around 15 years ago and became quite well known in the area. The twins Miriam and Suriana went to Pinnaroo Primary School and Ratu went to Murrayville Community College. Junior worked with mum & dad at the potato washing plant at Pinnaroo. Peni & Adi are now Pastors within the Christian Mission Fellowship International. They were a great encouragement to us over a couple of days with lots of prayer, teaching, food, music and fellowship.

The Marriage Debate

As the debate about legalizing Same-Sex Marriage roars around us we are urging believers to stand strongly on the Word of God which clearly demonstrates that God designed marriage to be a life-long union between one man and one woman for the purpose of working together in raising a family. (Genesis 2: 22-24 & Matthew 19: 4-6 & many more!)

In other countries that have legalized SSM there have been quite severe consequences for any one in opposition. They have experienced loss of freedom of speech, loss of freedom of religion and enforced teaching of radical LGBTQI sex education in schools. We must not be so naïve as to believe the same won’t happen here if the “yes” vote wins. Their campaign has totally avoided talking about the way every Australian will be affected if the marriage definition is changed. Please check out the links below to make sure you are fully informed.

We believe every Christian must stand up for Biblical marriage. We also must repent before God for not standing up for His ways in the past and passing on the next generation an appreciation for all that the Judeo-Christian tradition has given to our society. Far beyond any adherence to tradition must be our love for our Saviour, Jesus Christ. As we deepen our relationship with Him and allow more of His character to grow in us we are able to more lovingly, effectively and peaceably stand up for our convictions.
